The North of England Anglo Japanese Society is a member organisation with the remit to further develop the social and cultural links between the North of England and Japan. The last twelve months has seen the Society working closely with the regional Japan 2001 steering group in creating a diverse programme of events and activities to promote Japanese culture to the people of the North East. To further demonstrate the Society’s support this year the Society will focus its activities around Japan 2001 events to raise awareness and encourage involvement.
The regional programme includes activities ranging from: educational workshops, arts & crafts, music, taiko drumming, festivals and a matsuri event. Details of all Japan 2001 events can be found in this website and I encourage all members of the Society and the public to take the opportunity to experience the many forms of Japanese culture on offer.
